Faithlessness erases dreams
What you used to be sure about suddenly becomes fading footage.
And then you’d walk away. Like a charm whose incantation needs to be repeated methodically. Keep your dream in front of you always and do the things that grow your confidence towards it.
You can lose faith in your dream. It can suddenly become vague, unreliable, and impossible. You can check your dream one day and it’s no more breathing, yes, dreams die! They give up the ghost. It’s not your portion but dreams are living things we humans supply the oxygen
So how do you keep your dreams alive?
1. Regular check-up: Many people haven’t checked up on their dreams for many years. It’s in a dusty notepad they kept on the shelf in their parents’ home three years ago. They’ve moved on and they can’t quite remember what it looks like. Some kept theirs in a dark apartment in their mind. That guy will suffocate and die! Check up on it, find out what needs to be revised in line with the current reality and revise it. Reflect on it and keep it top of mind.
2. Create a graphical representation: if it doesn’t exist as a picture, a theme in your room, a design on a T-shirt, as a mural on the wall, on a wristband, as a ringtone, as a screensaver it’s not fine.
Your dream should be part of your everyday life, your buddy.
Let it be within visible distance. I didn’t know how forgetful I am until I was 30. Things slip and speed pass me unbelievably. That was when my notepad became my best friend. Ensure to see a picture of your dream every day! or almost every day.
3. Talk about it every day:
Whatever we talk about often has a chance of being birthed.
When a child retorts often, my mother would say, You repeat things like a witch. Verbalization and repetition are perhaps the greatest weaponry of witchcraft. They say it until it materializes, until the community wakes up to it.
We create space for what we talk about to BECOME. Silence creates nothing. The yam of a retorter does not get burnt over the fire.
The picture in my head is, when you talk about an idea often. That idea squeezes itself into existence, fights for its own spot on the table, enters into conversation, find a seat etc. I had a colleague at the university, Joseph. He harassed and tormented my life with cars! Too much! Way too freaking much. He knows a car just by the rev of its engine. Cars dominated 85% of his daily conversation. I avoided him by all means.
From the last update of him I saw on Facebook. Joseph sells cars now. In fact, if it doesn’t engross your conversation, it’s not your dream. If you don’t trouble us with it like Joseph, I doubt that it’s your dream. And when you say it often, you increase the chance of it becoming a reality. Not because there’s charm in the air. But
Conversations aid manifestation, It prompts action.
4. Talk to people about it: Not as a conversation now but an active consultation. You will not have all the answers you need. You will not be able to figure it out at once. You need to talk to people. Trust me you have people around you who can help you. If you don’t, find. You see those people who told you not to share with people because the world is wicked. They are the wicked ones.
Every dreamer needs a counselor, a teacher, a supporter, and a funder at least. If you isolate yourself, your dream will remain a secret forever!
5. Learn About your Dream: As soon as you land that dream, you’ve got to enrol into a relevant institution for learning, formally or informally.
If your dream doesn’t point you to the school you need to attend, or a course to take, that’s not a dream, it’s a fantasy. Dreams expose our ignorance. They require knowledge to actualize!
6. Act on your Dream: Take imperfect actions. Take tiny steps. Just do something, just ensure its consistent. Lay more brick. It’s the dream we build that stands. Not the one we only think about. Act and act. Chip it. That is the only worthwhile battle you have to fight after fighting for life itself. I know you don’t have the funds, act. I know you are timid, act. I know your background is humbling, act. You feel incapable, act. Unworthy, act. Inadequate, act. I have not met anyone who is completely invincible, totally strong, all round motivated, sufficiently resourced to take on a dream, everyone I know and have read fought for it. You have to fight for yours. Resistance tells us that nothing wants to be done. Your book does not want to be written, that conference will look out of reach, that business will look impossible to start or scale, a happy home will look unachievable. Fight and act.Actualization is not a walk in the park. Birthing requires considerable effort and time. Ask women, ask farmers, ask anyone who has ever done anything worthwhile.
It always seems impossible until it is done, Nelson Mandela.
7. Have Faith in your Dream: This is the only child you have after your biological child. Believe it. Children we believe in have a high chance of succeeding. Your dream is your child. This is a tough one. How do you give birth to a child and then contemplate failure? Our parents need a medal. They care for their child through sickness, ailment, slow speech, delayed assimilation with undoubted faith. They never stopped believing even when the report card says otherwise. They get to the hospital, speak to a friend, enroll the child for an extra lesson, pray etc. Every dreamer needs the faith that raises a child. They hold on to it with all they have regardless until the child picks up. I have read and seen too many cases. Dr. Ben Carson narrated some of these cases in his book, Gifted Hands. How parents spend their life savings on a child with a rare medical condition, sleep on hospital corridors for days, leave the other kids with her husband or nannies at home. If you give up too easily, you cannot nurture a dream. You have to believe that it will succeed.
8. Take a chance on it: Take risks in hope of a favorable outcome. You’ve got to bet on your dream. Your ability to take a bet on your dream depends on the capacity you’ve developed and how much belief you have in it. We don’t trust what we don’t believe.
Knock on doors with it. Send emails with it. Seek collaborations with it. Take a huge chance!
The truth is that no one will do this for you. Not because they are not nice, but this is your job description as a dreamer.
9. Pray for Your Dream: Prayer works. It preserves the actuality of your dream in your heart and increases your faith.
Prayer ties your possibility to an Existence that is larger, more capable, more resourceful, powerful, dependable than you! Prayer reinforces your dream, that even if you fail, God cannot.
Prayer supplies oxygen to a dying dream and empowers your womb(mind) to carry a baby. Prayer livens and breaks limitations. It shortens the distance between you and its actualization within the spiritual timeframe and its physical eventuality. Prayer strengthens. It opens your eyes and aligns your vision to avoid distraction. It increases the singleness of your vision. Prayer does much more!
I hope this blesses you. I’d love to read your feedback. Have a blessed December and breakthrough from within.
